Only giving this 3 stars. While the donuts were delicious, they were far from being a fastnacht. I would make these again. Everyone loved them, but it just wasn't what we were needing them to be.

Fastnachts (German Doughnuts), This is a traditional German recipe, usually made on Shrove Tuesday to use up the lard before Lent begins Don’t worry, you can fry them in vegetable oil instead of lard! Either way, they’re delicious!, Only giving this 3 stars While the donuts were delicious, they were far from being a fastnacht I would make these again Everyone loved them, but it just wasn’t what we were needing them to be , If you want to make them traditional, they are not round but cut into squares, that is the way they do it in Southeast PA in PA Dutch country
