African-Inspired Spicy Peanut Soup Recipe

While I can't attest to the authenticity of the dish, I can say it was well received by my family as a Kwanzaa side dish for out Christmas gathering. I double the recipe and used 4 fresh jalapeno peppers in place of the cayenne. I didn't peel the sweet potatoes, just diced them (why throw out all those nutrients). used my immersion blender to puree the soup. The soup turned out great.
