Easy Homemade Sweet Butter Bread for Bread Machines

Features:
    Cuisine:

I found this recipe to be very adaptable to deliberate changes and accidental mistakes. I reduced the sugar to 2 tablespoons and increased the salt to 2 teaspoons. I'm not a huge fan of sweet bread unless it's something like cinnamon rolls. Anyway, after putting everything in the machine I checked it at 5 minutes mixing. It was just a wet mess! I thought I might have left out 1 cup of flour so I added a cup and restarted the mixing process. After another 5 minutes I checked and it was still too wet. At that point I reread the recipe and realized I had doubled the liquids! With a heavy sigh I decided to try making a double recipe on the dough cycle. I added the ingredients to make a double recipe and set it on the dough setting - or so I thought! I realized I had put it on the wrong setting when I smelled it starting to bake. I very quickly took it out of the bread machine and put it into an oiled bowl, hoping it wasn't a lost cause. After an hour it had risen but by this time it was very very late. I needed to get to bed. I put the bowl of dough into the refrigerator, where it stayed for about 12 hours before I was able to work with it again. It had risen a tiny bit while in the refrigerator, so I put it out on the counter to rest and warm up. After that I shaped half into rolls and half into a loaf. I really thought it would fail because of all the things that had happened and the time since I'd started the night before. To my great surprise, the rolls rose nice and big and so did the loaf, although the loaf took a bit longer. I surprisingly ended up with 24 delicious rolls and a soft loaf of bread! So, this isn't necessarily a tweak, but instead it's a story of how so many events happened to try to make this bread fail, but it turned out wonderful!

Sweet Butter Bread (Bread Machine),I was looking for a butter bread recipe when I first bought my bread machine and I found this. I posted this for safe keeping. It’s really yummy and it’s really worth trying.:) DH’s favorite.,I found this recipe to be very adaptable to deliberate changes and accidental mistakes. I reduced the sugar to 2 tablespoons and increased the salt to 2 teaspoons. I’m not a huge fan of sweet bread unless it’s something like cinnamon rolls. It exceeded my expectations. I make the dough in the bread maker and let it rise in a loaf pan. It made a really large loaf and it has remained fresh for 3 days. It goes in the freezer tomorrow to use for toast. Thanks so much for this recipe.
